Opening hours 2024

September - Ocktober: Open 10 am - 4 pm but closed on Mondays.

Spring: March 1st - May 31st, Daily except on Mondays 10 am - 4 pm.
Summer: Daily 10 am - 5 pm. 

Closed during weekends from November until the end of February. 

The museum is open online, as well as the website, Instagram and Facebook accounts where one can gather information on Halldór Laxness and his works.

Visitors can virtually visit the museum, access the art collection and navigate between rooms here, accompanied by the Hamrahlíð choir singing Hjá lygnri móðu in the background, a poem by Laxness.

Gljúfrasteinn – Laxness Museum is located on your way to Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir) on the Golden Circle route.

Children under 18: Free

Groups are advised to book in advance for tours of the house, which are available in Icelandic, English, German and Swedish, and an illustrated guide in French.
